This oil I saw in ASDA looks very nice and clear yellow colour, and it smells lovely too, at £5 a gallon it must be good stuff, strangely it has no API or CC rating though!;)Image
  • maybe suitable for my Morris Minor chip van;)

Hey, Mr Cam! (Puts tin hat on and hides behind sofa.) Wilkinson have just dropped the price of their 20w/50 oil from £2.74 to only £2.00!!! Gosh, wot a bargain! Regards, MikeN.

My Asda oil smells perfectly nice - just like oil should and it is crystal clear, not murky at all. Who/what are Wilkinson Mike ?

wilkinson are a supermarket that sell everything apart from food, imagine a market stall the size of asda, do you not have them your side of the border ?

Remember Woolworths when you were a lad? Sold everything and always woth a visit? Well, Wilkinson's are like Woolies would be today if they hadn't blown it. Around here in the sunny south Wilkies is eating Woolies alive. Wilkies' 15w/40 API SJ ACEA A2 is £7.99 for 5 litres.
SCATS also have Fuchs 15/40 CG/9/51 for £8.29 and Silkolene (who are owned by Fuchs) 20/50 SF/CC for £7.69.
Best deal at the moment is the Halford's red can, if you can get it . I've had it on order for a week! Regards, MikeN.

Ok thanks Mike - no Wilkinson up here, yet. But the ASDA oil at £2.74 does both my classics just fine.

Just noticed that Screwfix are doing API-SL (which should satsify even Mr Cam!) for £6.99 for 4.5 litres or £6.24 each if you buy four. Handy if you buy building stuff from them and need to make up the total to reach the £45 minimum on free delivery! On page 470 of their cat.
API used to be jealous of their approvals, so although supplier (Silver Hoor?, can't read the little piccy too well) is one I've never heard of, I think its OK. MikeN.

Yup I noticed that a few weeks back as well - I nearly got some but I was already 3 times over the minimum order so I resisted (the name 'silver hoor' didn't exactly help )
