Aah okay, the one I have ordered seems like it should fit but because the description said for trucks I was a bit confused!
The other one I looked at was a bit bigger and someone said in the comments that they ordered it for their classic and it did the job but was not snug on the wheel.
I guess I’ll just have to try and see. She did actually come with a custom made heavy duty clamp complete with chains… BUT trying to get that on and off is a real effort, not ideal for a daily driver!
Will keep the bulldog one in mind too. Looks like a good brand, but for now I was looking for something a little cheaper. I don’t have any serious worries about her being stolen as she is parked on our drive right outside our bedroom window… and there is almost always someone at home… but just for a extra bit of peace of mind I thought a wheel clamp wouldn’t hurt. They are a good visual deterrent

A disklok that fits over the steering wheel is also a good idea.

Yes that’s on my list too. She does have a fob thing that cuts off electric, so unless you have that fob she can’t be started at all. But of course nobody would know that unless they tried! A visual deterrent is always good!

Like Phil I’ve got a Bulldog locking device, It can be a fiddle to install, likely due to the van bodywork, however a pretty good deterrent. Not too practical to fit ever time you park for a short while, although of course, a lowlife can strike quickly. The krooklok/stoplock device is probably the quickest thing to fit.

Okay thank you, it’s getting the balance between securing the car but not making it so it takes an age to get the locks off. The clamp she came with was extremely robust but required you to practically lay under the car to wrap the chains around… I can’t be doing that on the daily, especially if I’m dressed for the office

I’ll see how I get on with the one I’ve ordered. It will be for when she’s on the drive overnight. She has the fob thing for general parking and I will of course be mindful where I park her!

A friend of mine has something similar he used in his jeep when it was in use. He has said he will locate it and gift it to me.
The wheel clamp I ordered didn’t work out as although it fits around the tyre the shape of the wheel arch means I can’t get the thing on

This type are good for older cars, locks handbrake and gear lever and a visible deterrent, which is all most theft devices are in these days of battery powered disc cutters unfortunately.

Agreed. Unfortunately the cordless angle grinder has been a boon to thieves. At least we don't have to worry about catalytic converter theft. One of my friends had his car written off by the insurance company after his catalytic converter was stolen....The car was not worth much and a lot of damage was caused by the thief.

The Disklok steering wheel locks are designed to be resistant to angle grinder attack but they are big, cumbersome and expensive. Probably something cheaper but less secure to determined attack is just as good at deterring the casual opportunistic thief. It is almost impossible to defend against a well equipped pro-thief with enough time unseen or with a low-loader to simply lift the car and scarper.

I don't use it any more, but years ago I bought a device that locks on to the Schrader valve and deflates the tyre slowly if driven.
The reason I no longer use it, you can probably guess, I drove off one day forgetting to remove it. About 1/4 mile from home, yes, one deflated tyre.

That sounds potentially dangerous to me. If one of the bad guys nicked your car and caused an accident in which someone innocent was killed or suffered life changing injuries, where would you stand legally?

Luckily we as moggy owner don't make the top 10, no consolation if yours goes but still a little reassurance to go with your insurance.

Probably the same as if the car was nicked without that device and there was an accident.
Not relevant anyway because I don't use it.

I think ultimately if someone is determined to steal your car, they will steal it… fortunately though Nell is parked on the drive right outside our bedroom window and there is generally someone at home throughout the day. She is covered at night too and there is a security camera pointing right at her (doesn’t work but a thief won’t know that - it shouts at you when you go near it)
In reality I don’t think anyone could steal her without making a bit of faff about it and I’d like to think, as we sleep with our bedroom windows open we would hear any commotion on the drive!

That said I don’t want to be completely complacent so I will fit some kind of visual deterrent for overnight parking… probably some form of chain over the steering wheel or something. Would still make someone think twice and won’t be as awkward for me to wrestle off every morning!

I've was reflecting on this. Back in the 1970's when I grew up, my mother would put her crook lock steering wheel lock on her Mini every time we parked up other than for a very short stop. People syphoned petrol all the time. Her Mini was clapped out, overheated on hills, but still she worried it would be stolen and indeed cars DID get stolen all the time. We seem to have a perception that we live with levels of crime higher than ever these days but it was hardly a utopia 50 years ago! Not that I remember anyway.....

You’re right Stephen, I had a car stolen that long ago, handbrake cables cut and towed away. Why can’t I ever forget that

Whether it was changed on later Minors, the ignition key letters and numbers are stamped on the visible front of my ignition switch.
Remove the following if it's against the rules, but it's easy to start my car from under the bonnet. That depends, of course, if a door can be opened and knowing where the bonnet release is!
I had a new clutch fitted two years ago and I received a phone call asking how the bonnet is opened!
