looks nice
As regards opening the doors after a crash - my experience 3 weeks ago is that the doors will already be open after a heavy impact (managed to pull the door shut in mid-air before we hit the ground the second time

Looking good James.
Its not my idea of a moggie look ( I am not into custom cars ) but I can appreciate all the hard work put into it and cant resist a close look at anything different, cant wait to see the finished article

Has it been done before or are you the first?
I don't know but I know I have the first carbonfibre bonnet.
If anyone knows different (swageline or bonnet) please say, your pick up is the dogs I love it.

I hope not to be doing any dune jumpin!
Thanks for your thoughts

"It's painted matt black just to cover until all mod's have been done!
SO WHAT DO YOU THINK?
James"
I think the de-swaging looks great!, it gives your car a kind of de-seamed hot-rod look. You asked what I think, however, and I really don't like the cheap alloy wheels, it stops the car looking like the cool hot- rod it should be and makes it look a bit like a Halfords parts-bin special Max Power Chavmobile. ;-)
No offense meant, but a really classy set of alloys would me much nicer.
Well, you did ask what I thought! ;-)

It might only be the first one if you've had it for a long time... Best to check with the Beardmore Bro's (They have a lowlight custom with carbon fibre panels all round)

Sorry Cam! and sorry Motherof god, as I said, i'm not out to offend, but I've watched that many episodes of American Hot Rod and Overhauling (not as good), that when something doesn't look right, it just don't look right to me!
I do think the work on the de-seaming looks great and is very well excecuted, and is a good idea to get that seamless, smooth hot rod look, the car would be set off perfectly with a nice set of wheels- which it currently lacks! ;-)
I think its just a British thing, we often try to copy American culture but somehow don't get it quite right!

Well........ Lucky the wheels were on the car when i bought it. So not my choice either, centerlines, chrome smoothies, or Budniks I prefer!
I don't think beardmore's minor counts cause it's a lowlight! I don't believe there bonnet is but I'm checkin..........

I knew you'd have more taste than that!
Cool.
Look forward to seeing how your car progresses. Chrome smoothies, smooth wheels for a smooth car!

Been thinking about this for a while. Strengthwise most other cars have no swage lines, just flat panels, doors and rear 1/4 panels. Are the swage lines really for strength or cosmetic. Why would you need extra strength in the bonnet
The idea is growing on me. but I had thought about cutting the swage out and making filler pieces with top and bottom of panel joddled, that would put some strenth back in and also wouldnt need so much filler. Would lead loading distort panel too much?
Opinions welcome.Ian.
Motherofgod do you plan on doing the bonnet.

The bonnet doesn't have any swage lines, just a couple of bits of trim fixed on. Modern cars have a load of pressed box section under the bonnet for strength.

In stead of filling with new pieces of metal it was easier to panel beat the line flat after cutting top edge then weld and fill. Using lead shouldn't make to much difference than normal pug. I'll post a new pik soon.

Sorry BG your wrong there is a swage line down the middle! My Bonnet doesn't have this or the side add ons either. It's the smooth look! It's not the bonnet on my sig so you know,
James

You're right - I didn't think of it as a swage though, 'sos swage lines generally aren't 4" wide

I suppose you could say two swage lines with 4" of metal between!
