Plan is to machine the alloy plate down so its about 18mm thick then use it as a spacer / rear oil seal carrier, to the back of this will be something like the original minor backplate bolting through the alloy plate into the engine block. The gearbox will then be mounted to the back of this. If we get it right this will put the mx5 flywheel (which happens to have the same crank bolt pattern as the maestro) in the correct position for the mx5 gearbox.
