My thoughts..
Theres a good reason every car produced in the last 30 years has had electronic ignition, done properly it is more accurate and more reliable and gives a gives a more powerfull spark. 30 years ago much of the aftermarket kit was of a similar quality to oem parts, my Lotus has had the same Lumentaion kit for 35 years and it still works perfectly.
Recently I have bought aftermarket kits and they have been hopeless, I am told even the modern Lumentation kits come from the far east and suffer quality issues. So it really comes down the quality of the parts you fit, this is why I choose to modify the rover A+ system, even here you have to be carefull to use quality parts, some pattern parts are not much better than some of the conversion kits..
