Well, i was impatient, so i made the glovebox components. If i didn't have the speaker i would definitely do away with the glovebox and mount the tacho on a board, as it is a right pig to fit. But fit it does.
The tacho is completely enclosed/boxed in, so looks relatively neat.
It isn't perfect, but it is like the rest of the car, functional.

I also wired in the 12v accessory port. This will go where the round heater knob would've been.

Yesterday i fitted the 731 cam to my car. I did this as i wanted to change the cam chain, so as i had the cam, thought it would be daft not to give it a go. Cam is good as it didn't require me to change the oil pump again.
First impressions are good. Idle appears to be ok, not noticeably lumpy. The car accelerates as it did with the 1098 cam, but definitely pulls more cleanly higher up the revs. I don't plan to rag the engine, but it is pleasing to know i can accelerate up a slip road now without crying in desperation!
