Looks to be a 1300 marina gold seal engine - unused. Sitting at £50 at the moment. I'm not in a position to but right now (as I've just paid out for the car) but might be what you're looking for ?
Got it...

Darn, fooled again. I thought £200 was fair enough - I reckon on spending at least that rebuilding my old one. More than you'd have paid, I take it?

Good 1300 inline engines are fairly thin on the ground so you can end up paying over £100 for a used one plus a long day top go fetch it, but if you're lucky you can find them for £25 to £50 - the cheap ones will be a gamble as they may be worn out.
Personally I'd be equally nervous about an unused goldseal - they have a bad reputation as many garages had to re-refit the engine due to faults. However if the engine is good then it's worth every penny and is cheaper/quicker than getting an old engine completely rebuilt.

It'll be getting a fair bit done to it anyhow - the 12g295'll go on, f'rinstance, so I'll have a nose around while it's open. Seemed like it might be a better starting point than used - we'll see... and like you say, they're thin on the ground these days!

LOL - well I'm in a good mood as I got the MM today and its better than I ever expected it to be!!

1952 MM, 1275cc Marina Engine with HIF6 SU, Ford Sierra 5 speed box, Spax dampers all round, upgraded 5 leaf's on the rear, Steering from newer MM model, all sorts of stuff.... basically if I had a list of all the "want to have" mods on a Mog this would pretty much tick the lot.

Also a load of spares too.... including (and this is the interesting bit) a 40DCOE with manifold!! so..... need a carb for your shiney new engine???

lol

Don't actually *need* one, but if there's one floating around at the right price...

You don't happen to have any of the original MM parts that you don't want do you? If so and you wish to get rid of them, PM me. Thanks! :D
