What number is stamped on the lay gear? In fact it would be good to post all component numbers if you could. :D

It wasn't clear - looked like HS 4 or HS14 - half the imprint was missing! :-?

The reverse idler cog set had HS1 stamped on it - and was 14/18 teeth; it didn't look any different to the standard 1098cc Minor 'boxes one.

Ok thanks for reply, didn't recognise those numbers. 14/18 seems to be common to both boxes.

Well, another oddity discovered today; in one of the spare 1098cc Minor boxes I have, the reverse idler gear is stamped 22A454, whereas the other Minor 'boxes both have 22A453. I've googled it, and can't find any reference to the 22A454 version. :-?

Also, are the main gearbox casings date stamped? I have Minor casings with serial numbers 86082, 152381 (also stamped 4/6/7..) and 308620 (also stamped 6/70) and a Midget one stamped A8H248.

Does anyone have any experience of these new 1st gear cogs?
