Insist that the dealer sorts it out,he is clearly in breach of the sale of goods act,and inform him if he dosen't sort it you will go to the trading standards,they love this sort of offence. BUt as above it looks like you are having doubts about the car,didn't you post that it was now up for sale.
You will probably have the right to a full refund from the dealer.But as allready said the problem will be very simple to fix,thats if you want to keep and use the car,the longer you keep it the harder it will be to get a refund.

I think you really need to decide what you want to do with the car. You advertised it for sale on here earlier in the week saying that you regretted the impulse buy, now you seem to be considering keeping it but changing the engine. You paid quite a lot of money for it and as already stated, it is not as described in the advert so you are entitled to ask for a refund. You could then find yourself a car which is more suited to what you want rather than spend money on changing the engine to something more powerful. As stated, getting a decent engine and paying someone to fit it for you won't be cheap. And if you have doubts about the car now you might find that you may never be really happy with it.

On the other hand if you have decided that you want to keep it the problems sound like fairly easy fixes and the dealer should put these right for you. It's not clear from your posts what you have said to the dealer, and what response you are hoping for, but you've owned the car for nearly a week now so best thing to do is ring them to discuss things rather than wait for an e-mail response. Hopefully things can then be sorted out to your satisfaction, whatever you decide to do.

My reading of it all is that the car was fitted with trafficators - and indeed it is - they just don't work! But did the description ever say they worked??? I would have been wary in any case - 'reputable dealers' don't sell their cars on ebay.........

Are you sure that the trafficators have been disconnected? They are usually operated via a knob or lever fitted under the dash to the right of the steering wheel - eaay to miss if you are unfamiliar with trafficators. They won't automatically come on when you use the indicator stalk.

Yes, the trafficators have been disconnected, I was advised of this when I collected the vehicle. I heard form the dealer and he is arranging collection of the vehicle and he will advise me when the transporter will collect, hopefully in the next few days or early next week.

What has he said he will do,whats his plan of action, repair correctly ,give you your money back , how long will he keep car if repairing ,are you happy with this.

If you are giving it back - get cash in hand BEFORE you release the car back to him. Consider charging him £50 a day storage - that's what he would do to you!!!

Why are you paying for transport of the car?????????????????
You should not be paying for anything and as above you should have a clear plan of action from yourself and the garage.

Take pictures - have a good witness with you - and make sure you get a signed receipt for the car when they take it away... Personally - I feel you are over -reacting if all that is wrong is that the engine won't start - and the trafficators need connecting up.......
Lesson for all to learn here is - view the car with an expert and have a full test drive on the open road before agreeing to buy. If excuses such as no insurance etc are offered - walk away...... These cars are free to tax - so that can never be an excuse - and 'dealers' will either have a blanket insurance or can arrange '3 day' insurance on any car for very little cost. And be clear about the specification/history of the car - and make sure it's all working !!

thanks, i use my minor almost every day in the spring and summer on short journeys mostly 15mls each time.
this summer i am going to take her to Brighton which is 60 mls from me. to try her out.
since i have had her. the only thing that let me down was the fuel pump. have replaced it with a reconditioned one works well.

Indeed! Always best to carry a spare pump and dizzy (and fan belt) - no more problems then.....

If i was you i would insist on returning the car back to the dealer, and get a full refund.
then look for one on this site (Morris minor owners club) you are bound to get one that has been taken cared of.
this is the site i got mine from, and i am really happy with it. i had to replace a few things, but i knew that when i purchased it.
good luck in finding the moggy you want.

Oh dear -I bet it 'sells' for much less than you paid...he should refund ALL your money - take him to Trading Standards !

I have posted the car on the For Sale message board.

I spoke witht he garage that collected the car and the chap replaced the condenser and it works fine now.

I am not sure what a condeser is, so I didnt ever think of replacing it.

I'm sure it was one of the things we all suggested you change - very common failure - and very low cost - not much more than pennies...... You stand to lose hundreds of pounds on this car for no good reason. I suggest you get a lift to the garage - and drive the car home - and KEEP it this time !
