good to know that they are'nt that unreliable
lowride stepside wrote:Bad betty is very rock n roll . Love her , I reckon rather than chop her roof ,fit an external sunvisor tipped down a bit, gives that 50s look without the butchery tho even a roof chop could be reversed .
A lot of old and now rare cars are still on the road due to people customising them . Most things can be put back to standard. How about some side exit slash cut pipes
cheers mate, Aye, roof chop probably wont happen but who knows ;)
I've got a mate making me a custom sunvisor (peaked with holes) so should look canny cool

I like the side exit exhaust idea, may have to do that!!

Make sure you preserve it, they are rare to find in any condition.
Could well have been a farm car in the past as Spalding is in Lincolnshire.

Dealer not listed as an official BMC dealer in the 1960 Gazeteer I have but can confirm that Spalding is in Lincolnshire and they do a
LOT of farming down that way!!!

hey mate, I've been tinkering more than anything... although I have made some progress today. Ended up Blacking-out all the lights (front & back) and painting the grill black
before & after front lights:
all done:
I still need to change the indicator / sidelight combo.. really dont like those ones.
I've got some larger side lights to go on, then thinking of some little bullet indicators from a bike. Just curious as to where to mount them. Was thinking in the grill or ontop of the bumper but not sure yet
Also, the grill is getting some netting over it, with a skeleton mouth painted on (I'm going day-of-the-dead style with it)

How bright are your headlights now. Not sure on the blacking of the rear lights. Makes it a bit of a boy racer to me and less of a hot rod. Am going to stay red at rear just need to lose the horrid amber indicators. Have got angel eyes crystal head lights and range rover crystal side repeaters to use as indicators. Should look good when done.

looks ok , but i like my lights bright , i had grills like that on an old dirt bike years ago and even they where enough to to significantly reduce the luminaires emmitted

suprisingly they dont seem to make much difference to the light, but then again I haven't had it out yet!
since its just my fun car I dont really plan on driving much at night with her so it shouldn't be too bad... but obviously will take them off if it restricts it too much
im kinda liking the stealthy look, wont be boy racer by the time im done with her ;) just going black on black, will also have the skeleton teeth grill for the day of the dead look, trust me.. if it comes out how it is in my head, she's gunna be summit really special ;)

If I remember rightly, photobucket auto resizes when you upload, unless they have changed it
What mods are you planning on yours?

Aye hopefully, I'm trying hard to not change my mind mid-flow. This one has already developed from my original 'military' theme idea, but went toward this since its a bit more original & just feels better on the car. (although probably going to sneek some military theme in there somewhere)!
Hows yours coming along btw?

At the mo I'm busy sourcing the last few parts to fit an eaton M45 blower to it .
Aquired . Eaton supercharger that some bloke had already bolted on an A series, metro turbo carb and plenum chamber, filter, pulleys,Intercooler , cylinder head of a 1275 mpi mini engine ( bigger valves and runs unleaded )
Still needed , fuel pump and pressure regulator , jocky wheel for belt tensioner.
If I can get all the parts together before I start it should only be off the road for a day ,
Gonna swap the head before as I need to check some internal affairs .

I would double check that... all the factory unleaded 1275 heads were small valve ;)
