Finally got around to fitting that 1248 TPM speedo today, the reading is pretty much spot on, thanx for the advice. Does not drop straight in tho, fixing brackets stick out much wider so they need fettling, also unable to use petrol gauge as showing as full, tried several but in the end had to fit old one to new clock.

If you are using a later black fuel gauge then you will need a voltage stabilizer

Would that be fitted to the new (later) clock as I removed something that I did not recognise and was not required. Fitted to the top, back, with a single screw.

That's the 10 volt supply for the black fuel gauge.

Refitted the voltage stabilizer but the fuel gauge is showing 3/4 full when it should be 1/4 full, gauge appears to be back to front. Tried switching wires around on stabilizer and gauge but does not make any difference, what about switching wires on sender could this be the answer?

No would be the answer to that one as there is just one wire from the sender. I looks as if I will need to replace the sender with a later one, can anyone confirm this? Will run with a black clock and white/gold fuel gauge for the time being.

The white gauge doesn't, doesn't use the stabiliser. And it is polarity sensitive..
