even better! yes, anyone have details about the prop / drive flange? Does the prop need to be shortened or is it just a different drive flange needed?

HOORAY! I won the Ital axle - a bargain at £22!! - so going to pick it up when I go to get my van.
Going to fit the MGF spare wheels, using the 195/75/14 tyres from the back of my car - so by my calculation the larger tyres and the 3.89 Ital diff should give me a final drive ratio somewhere near the late Midget 3.7.
May infact redrill the front hubs to 3.75" PCD so I can use the MGF wheels all round.
Roy, you said the holes should be broached with the spline shape of the wheel studs - how would I go about this? Or, what would I need to give the machine shop to do it? One of the studs?
Thanks for the heads up on the prop Charlie.
Sorry, just a couple of other questions... where can I source Ital wheel studs, or are they the same as Minor ones?
And are the van axles the same as saloon ones? I might use my surplus Minor axle on the van as I seem to remember reading that van diffs are something like 5.2 ratio and with a warmed up 1098 in it I would like a lower diff ratio...

the marina studs and minor studs are the same thread but they are too small for the mgf wheels..
get some metro studs they pull in no problems.. the marina studs are very wide at the base, so there is no need to do any drilling etc.. obviously a different case at the front..
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rover-Metro-Rear- ... 705wt_1137
there is no need to do anything to the drums either.. you will need to fit a 1 / 2 mm spacer behind the wheels as the nuts bottom out on the thread before they do up against the wheels.. the other thing to do would be to cut the thread on the bolts a bit further..

Thanks Charlie, presumably they will be good for the front too?
Had a look for the spacers on ebay and they're under a tenner so will do that rather than recut the threads
Cheers, G

yes they will be good for the front as well..
I dislike "general" wheel spacers as they can move around on the hubs.. i would rather make up my own.. do not buy any just yet as i guessed 1 / 2 mm i have not measured them..
up front you will probably need wheel spacers to stop the wheel hitting the upright.

Awesome, cheers. When I've got the axle on and wheels in front of me I will double check the measurement and then get the relevant spacers - I don't like the look of the multiple ones either, so will try and get some proper 4 stud ones

the diff flange can be redrilled to take a minor prop mounting holes.
alternatively, i have a spare one here that has been done already, you can collect on your way to collect the axle if you want? if you haven't already collected. It's only a short way off the A27!

Cheers Callyspoy - thats a brillaint offer, thank you, but JeffTav emailed me last night with one that he has and I'm buying it off him...
Just out of interest though for the future, do you not need to shorten the prop? Can one simply redrill the diff flange to Minor pattern and then use the standard Minor prop?
