still keen on chopping then go to the Custom&Modified and look
for Crazy Wing mods, my pal found it on the net .

Dude, I have been following this thread and your doing pretty well so far. As for the roof chop, GO FOR IT . It's your car and if you like it then don't worry about what everyone else thinks. Unless your planning on selling it straight away then don't worry about it's re-sale value. Most people who modify cars don't make back what they spent on it. It's all personal taste at the end of the day, and I personally love it . How boring would it be if all Morris Minors looked the same!

wow! thats exactly what i thought, everybody does the same restoration to make it look standard, and i LOVE the roof chop idea but it will cause complete havoc with insurance and mot blah blah blah

Well I'm not claiming to know a lot about these regulations but why would your insurance go up as it isn't a 'speed' modification. Also as along as the welding is done to a proffesional level then the MOT shouldn't be a problem. If you really want to do it then there are always ways around these things dude.

What's the advantage of a roof chop? I'm yet to find one.

It costs money and takes a lot of time and effort to do, it compromises your comfort and visibility and likely reduces the saleability of the car, all for what benefit?

As previously said it's your car so you can do what you like, and in my opinion modifications to the engine, wheels, interior, etc can make the car really nice but roofchopping really does seem pointless.

As I said, personal preference. Roof chops were huge in the 80's/90's are there back on the increase. I do agree that if you are a tall chap you may get a sore back but who cares . I wouldn't say it reduces the saleability of the care at all, so long as you market it to the right group of people. The custom/ modified scene is huge so I don't think you should worry about it not selling (if thats what you want to do). At the end of the day guys, it may cost money, not have a purpose and a lot of people won't like it but it's his car, his money and thats another mog saved from the scrapper. Roof chop away

the thing is it isn't really a scrapper is it. as far as i can tell,(correct me if i'm wrong) the car was pretty up together when rossrox bought it. if it had been a shell that needed a sh*t load of welding then i would be in full support; it really would be saving a scrapper. theres plenty of bad mogs out there, and there is no need to cut up a good one!

for the record i absolutely love chops, but as i said before, you got to be sensible.

has anyone considered a roof lift - now that would be different

the more i read these comments the more pros and cons i have, haha. and the roof chop is deffinatly not going to happen becuase that will deffinatly issue me a q plate, which just really doesnt arouse me at all hahaha

just changing the wheels and lowering it a couple of inches.
Even in standard paint. Check out my car in Retro Cars magazine
you don't have to go wild to have a nice, good looking car that

right, the axle should be here on wednesday hopefully so i can finally get a bit of progress done

no sign of the axle bloody delivery services really are terrable! next day delivery... guarenteed before 5:30... i think i should get my money back!

If that's what you paid for you should be able to get your money back as they have not fulfilled their contract to you.

I'm straight on the phone if something is not delivered in the specified time.

A lot of these companies think people can't be bothered to complain that's why they mess people about

either full refund or 50% back... which is allright BUT and its a big but, they may have lost it... how the hell do you lose an axle with wheels and leaf springs still attached i will not know! this may be a major problemo!

Someone has probably put it in the wrong sort pile, i'm sure they'll find it when the driver realises he has an axle with wheels and leaf springs over, when he finshes his round.

I'm pleased you got the full refund or 50% back. It pays to complain especially when you don't receive the service your paying for.
