Well Richard Legge and ourselves have to disclose that we are traders, despite the fact that somewhere in the T and C's it says no traders (happy to be corrected if not) If you put a link too or described your business other than your company mame then yes you will be moderated as its deemed as advertising.
A good links page would eleviate this problem and offer members with a valuable resourse, especially if its compiled in a structured way, rather than just an alphabetical list.

Would it break anybody's T's&C's to do this at a branch level? I realise that's not as good as putting it here, but it'd be a start.

correct me if im wrong,in minor matters traders advertise there products, with the hope that morris minor owners use there services.
what is the harm in having reputable traders that are approverd by the club in advertising on the website on a dedicated approved traders page with links to there website.i dont see what the problem is,remember the custermer is always right.if there are traders that are doing jobs not up to scratch then market forces will come into play ie people wont go back to them.this is just an idea .

Non whasoever and whats more they could pay for privilage. If the ads are on a dedicated page(s) then those who dont want to see them dont have to but it would be extremely beneficial particularly to the new owner to have a site where we can see a wide variety of suppliers. It would be good for members and whats good for the members is good for the club. After all we are the club.
This subject has been coming up again and again. Maybe its time someone started listening

Its not as though we were asking for something contraversial or costly or even difficult to provide.

I got a far cheaper quote from RH and negotiated down to a similar quote from FJ.
I had the same problem with house insurance last year (different company). If you are a long standing client they think that they can keep upping the premium without you noticing.

Yes indeed, its a fine line to draw - declaring your business, but not advertising. I mean its not hard to put a www. and a .co.uk before and after the name in the signature and oops its an advert....
Also, I'm a 'trader' whatever that means - someone in business? but I'm a manufacturer and restorer and don't buy and sell cars as a rule so does that mean I can advertise the occaisional Minor on the site? Possibly not.... Never been too clear on that one!

Same as me then Iain, and the answer is no!

As most folk on here know who we are, and often put up our email addys up it seems silly that we cannot do this ourselves. I understand fully that we cannot put prices or describe what we do blatantly, but some posts on here do lend themselves to us showing what we do as our profession, if you know what I mean. I think the mods are pretty wise to this and I feel moderated only if we get to 'cute'.
I'm reasonably happy with the situation, but as I have mentioned a well planned 'trade' section allowing promotion of our services and products will be of great benefit to all.
