I logon most days and would usually find around 50 posts, things do seem to have quietened down. I find it all quite fast enough (for me anyway!) and I use IE

If you click on the 'pm' icon to the right of the post of the person who you wish to send a message to a text box will be displayed showing the thread and comments made by that person in that particular post. This seems to be because the site assumes that you wish to send a pm about that particular topic. If you want to send a message about a different topic just clear the text boxes and compose and send the message the same as you did before the site upgrade.

Or you can click on your 'user control panel' at the top right hand corner of the messageboard, click on the 'pivate messages' tab and send your pm that way.

Easiest way is to just click on the persons user name and this will take you to their profile details where if you scroll down the page you will see a link marked "send private message". Click on this and you can send them a pm. Simple :D

Well i've found the place again! I don't know about anyone else but i had the forum main page bookmarked. So far the last week or however long the new site has been up everytime I clicked on the bookmark I got sent to a page telling the site was not working. Maybe an email to members saying the forum had moved would have been a good idea (or maybe I just missed that!)
As for my views on the site, i find it headache inducing after a few minutes, far to bright on the eye. Another problem i seem to be having is when I click back I get sent to the main terms and conditions page.

I've just clicked "back" and it's gone straight to the general discussion homepage.
I'm using IE with no problems. Ok the site is slow sometimes - but there's a lot of traffic! :D

BMC if I can make it work anyone can! The PM is under your username on the right - little PM. Simply click on this and if you want to chcnge the subject matter just clear using your backspace button and change the subject, alternatively just click on the person you want to PM and click on the PM under their name.

The old site was getting completely un-maintainable, and (like the cars ) some parts are not available and we have to use something different

Yes - I know how to make the PM work - but why can't it just work the same as it used to!

Different more modern Software used which is not compatible to the old system. The old site had been "cobbled" together following the major "hack" a few years ago and needed constant maintenance.

Oh - I'm not doubting the 'new' software will be easier to maintain - but I don't see why it can't be flexible enough to simply take us to a an empty PM screen - for the person to whom the PM is intended!

I've just looked at the PM system and i have to say it seems fine. And the back function is working now as well, so that must have been my steam powered pc playing up again.

I don't think numbers are well down now.
There seem to be as many posts as before and I'm sure anyone whose bookmarks/favourites are now broken will find their way back as they managed to find the site in the first place.

Part of using a computer is getting used to new software.
I doubt anyone is still using Windows 3.11 or Wordperfect , times change and software changes, often for the better.

If you mean the little arrow at the bottom right of each post, I broke it while widening the page!
