It can't be my mod, I haven't done it. I have to admit to taking the Subaru when it looks like it will get really wet.

Take the lid of the wiper motor drive and clean the old 1964 grease out and re pack with fresh 2010 grease. The speed of the wipers depends on the amount of rain on the windscreen
To my simple electronic mind sticking various appliances in the circuit will only increase the resistance and slow the wipers down, so you appear to be back to an uprated two speed motor.
I expect a professor of batteries will try to correct me

It wasn't your mod as such - you pointed to it in a thread in another forum.
Here is the type of brush plate that Lucas used to provide the second speed -[frame]

[/frame] The higher speed is obtained by using the brush part way round the commutator.

Anyone got a cunning way to get an intermittant wipe?
Without doing it manually!

Roy, I saw this on ebay. Is it the same as what you mentioned? I sent them a question but they never bothered to answer.

Yes - that looks very like the one I bought - 45 years ago! I can't say if it will fit your motor - I still haven't quite got round to fitting mine!
