Very nice work on both house and car. I hope -- if indeed I end up taking my engine out -- it goes as smoothly as yours looks to have! Is there anything remaining that you'll do yourself, or will it be totally restored by this mysterious 'professional'?

Rich has only had a quick look at it, but the plan is for him to strip and re-build in time for Christmas. Plan is to paint it think the name is Connaught Green, very dark.
The engine and box came out nice and easy, only part of the wole thing I hate doing is undoing the nuts to release the chrome holding on the front panel and freeing the engine mounting, there is one bolt that just is really hard to get at. Also saves a load of time labelling up the electrics!

Rich has it mostly stripped down into rusty piles and the shopping list has grown.

I'm very familiar with the rusty piles strategy, it gets to look a lot worse before it gets better. You will probably have to opt for a brand new rear valance panel inner and outer, as I did. The provenance of the vehicle is in no way effected by the inclusion of new metal, (they just get jittery when you re use big old parts from another vehicle) just keep the receipts for when you re-register with DVLA.

I wont have any problems there, as far as the Jersey DVS are concerned, it is still registered and wont ever need a test again unless I have an accident or get stopped in a police check and they notice something dangerous. Its a wierd system.

Who did you get the parts from?

I've found Bull Motif are quite good, don't know what postage for large bodywork sections would be like to the Channel Islands though.

Wife who usually has no interest at all, saw the Cream pickup in Minor Matters and said that was the colour that it has to be.

Suits me as I wanted yellow, but the one I showed her was the same yellow as the main building supplier on the Island so she said no way! and to colourblind me this one looks yellow. Everyone is a winner!

Well a bit of an update.
Top bloke Jonathon Heap has located a Midget engine and gearbox for me that The mini Metro Centre are going to rebuild.

I have also agreed to buy a new chassis from Alex Wills as the current one is in a pretty poor state.
Image
Still tempted to get it galvanized. was concerned as I have heard horror stories on the Series Landrover forum I frequent but one of the people that purchased one of these had it galvanized then had it checked and it had not distorted.
As this is to be a daily driver living outside and working for a living I am pretty tempted especially as the cost is only £85ish

Well pleased to say Rich is making some good progress now that he has moved to his new workshop.
He managed to get a new old stock side all the way from Malta and has said it is much better than the photos. Image

Also getting on with the body.

Also now Rich collected the New chassis from Alex Wills and the Mini Metro Centre are getting on with the rebuild of the MG Midget engine and box that Jonathon Heap sourced and the disk brakes that he found are also on the way.
All hoping to be ready for my mates wedding late January 2011 (fingers crossed)

Expanding foam is not a good thing for repairing sills.

Ooooh...nasty !!
Looks like the work of a " professional " Mr Bodger.A couple of different size mesh grilles in evidence, he clearly deliberated over the available materials, during the re-construction process.Discerning ?

Only one place for the stuff and you don't need me to tell you where.

Good luck with the resto.

Bob

Wow! F1 technology in a minor.
Composite materials no less, I think they prefer carbon fibre for the "bread" though.

Nice to see someone who obviously takes some pride in how they do a job. Nice work.

Wish I had a restoration shed like the one in the pics. Would be heaven in the current wintery conditions. :D
