I have removed the rubber cap from the valve body, and the bore of the master cylinder was fine, and had a third opinion. I didnt replace the plug washer, it looked good but just in case i have another one being sent to me, along with the two small copper shims at the bacl of the master cylinder. I replaced all of the internal seals when first had the master cylinder apart about a week ago. When you sayon the plunger, do you mean the internal one or the massive rubber on the end of the master cylinder, i cant thing that big rubber does anything but keep dirt out. I thought that the seal on the back of the master cylinder was meant to be fibre, not copper, well im getting a fibre one sent, is this correct? Thanks, Ben.

Cam, I found that the old hub washers were totally knackered, and they were not actually pushing the bearings in at all, as there wasnt enough thread, they were that worn!
Marina/Ital Brakes

Had a fight with an Ital in a scrap yard on Saturday, now got two sets of disks/caliper etc and several scraped knuckles. Understand about getting the new bearings and hubs to fit Minor pitch, and removing the cap from the master cylinder, but how do you plumb in a servo and fluid resevoir? Also, any recomendations as to a servo? Ital seems to have dual brake circuit, so presumably would not be an easy fit into a Minor.

Servo probably isn't needed with disks....
To fit the remote reservoir, take the big plug out of the back of the master cylinder, drill the middle and fit a hose connection to it ( a bit of engineering required here.
Whislt the MC is out, you can dissassemble the piston and fish out the cup seal from the far end of the bore.
Then you need a few metres of brake fluid hose and a remote reservoir. Finally, bung up the small bleed hole in the original m/c cap.
Alternatively pay £30 to a Minor centre and they will supply all the bits including a new plug for the back of the M/c with the spout already attached.

No, it's not needed and I don't have one with my set-up (1380 engine and Sierra discs). It just makes it easier to press the pedal, it does not make the brakes any more effective.

Agreed dan i recently fitted marina discs thinking peace of cake, got all the bits needed calipers pads discs and mounting brakets off a marina on a yard, and all the conversion parts someone else described earlier, so it should have been a case of simply fitting it all together lego style...... But for my incompetance! (and a crusty master cylinder) turned the job from a 80-100 quid steal into a 175+ pocket robber! still well worth it after all the agro mind! My advice would still be to find a marina though as my conversion in my eyes was still a steal. Ithnk i got quoted between 370 and 400 frm charles ware admitted all new bits but still...
