just an idea, but according to a book on "woodies" often chassis and cabs were ordered then converted. there was apparently no purchase tax to be paid on commercials. i understand that purchase tax was quite high on non essentials (cars for instance) but was not applicable to service vehicles .could it be possible that the original owner wanted a trav, so got it converted to save pennies? just an idea, but seems sensible to me.

might seem like a bit of a stupid point, but wouldn't an early car have a split screen? the early travs did, and i wouldn't have thought they would prototype a panoramic, then retrograde to a split.

Tax evasion does seem like the most likely reason so far - I'm trying to track down the origianl owner (or family members) to confirm......
