Hey Guys!

Just a little up date, my Morris Minor flew through the MOT today!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Unsuprisingly I have been driving it round all evening lol. So if you see a little Old English White Morris Minor pottering around Cheltenham you know who it is! 8)

MOT'd ,as they say "result".
You now have permission to wear a silly grin for a couple weeks, you know the one that says ,I restored it myself. The satisfaction factor will stay with you for ever.

Well done !!

Thanks Bob! I will get some pictures up asap.

Ah the fact I can say I did it myself is pretty rewarding. The MOT guys all had a good look at it and had nothing but good comments for it. They were amazed at the condition of it!

While I had it in for the MOT I also asked them to re-do the tracking as I knew it was out from the restoration, they said it should be between 1-2 degrees toe in but found that mine was at 16 degrees :o

16 degrees ?? Come on, you're boasting now !!
The corect setting will save you a few pounds on replacement tyres ( they would have been acting more as a snow plough ).
A good call to get it checked.

It reminds me of my eldest son's first car, a Beetle. We had to replace the front suspension ( a double torsion bar set up ) due to a rusting frame.Stripped everthing down, put new frame in,cleaned and greased the individual metal bars within the tubes, replaced the steering damper, track rod ends, the crumblng fuel pipe hose ( a fire waiting to happen ! ) and gave everything several coats of paint.I insisted he take the car to a VW main dealer for the MOT to check everything over.

Same thing as happened to you ,mechanics pouring all over it, wanting to know who had done the work to such a high standard. My son was proud to say "I did it with my Dad ".He was still in shock when he came back from the garage relating the story. He walked around with silly grin from then on.
Enjoy the car.
