Maybe it's just me....
I have a beard for practial reasons (I have a very square jaw with right-angle bends ;-) and I also get skin irritation too when i shave.) I trim it every month when it get's too busy (Or when SWMBO tells me!). BTW apprently the first two days after a trim are the prickly ones, after that it's nice and soft again....
Now I also have long hair.... Does that effect things....
(In my defence I also have two rough vans, of which one is roadworthy!)
Now Juliet how does that score?

I have a question for you beardy experts, my other arf as been growing his "beard" for a couple of years still the same length doesnt cut / trim it whats going on there surely after this amount of time he should look like a ZZ top member??

Dunno how ZZ top do it - they seem to just stop at a certain length, much like other body hair...

Each hair grows then and after a while it stops then falls out.
The rate of any of those 3 things is different between every person - therefore some can get long beards and some can't.
Mine just gets far to itchy so it gets kept very short.
ZZ top - I never actually thought they had real beards! Surely like most things 'in the media' it's 'just television' (i.e. fake)?

Ray

thats blasphemy
Think the zed zed toppers are real - not many people know theres a 3rd member of the band who is folically challenged hence you dont see him in the videos etc.
Darn shame they never hotrodded a mog for one of the vids

I know - the ultimate Irony that is
must admit i never knew that !!!
Only found out after doing a google to see if there was any possibility Ray's beard conspiracy might have been correct
Says on the Wiki article about them that the 2 hursuit ones turned down $1 million each to shave them off for a gillette commercial !
Anyway the more i think about it i'm sure have seen guys at biker rallies with similar length beards so it must be possible.

The aptly named Frank Beard

is the only clean shaven member of ZZ Top.
Do I win the razor?

Very good Lou - your prize can be collected from the AGM
Orkney - In our local quiz league we have a leading light of the "Vikings of Middle England" needless to say, his beard is most impressive.

I respect anyone whos got a decent beard Rog, mostly for their patience with the thing. Drives me mad at the fortnight stage and has to go.
(think Ray is growing an Evil Villain style one LOL)
Theres quite a few of that viking lot many with good beards up on Shetland for the festival there- quite a big thing and taken very seriously by those who participate.
I used to have a pony tail (sad but true

) and after getting the property here and beginning renovation it had to go. Just became unmanageable with all the dirt & dust from working with stone walls & lime.
The one thing i will say though as it happens was no bad thing as it turned out, literally took 10 years off me.
Next time i start getting depressed about getting older I'll grow another just to get it chopped off and psychologically at least will have an instant rejuvenation fix

ZZ-top- yes the beards are real and the other member (the drummer) does not appear in the vids as much because they often feature the spinning guitars trick (these are actual real working guitars- special combined strap, jack plug around which the guitar can spin whilst being worn and still connected to the amp).
The non bearded member ironically is called Frank Beard!

As a point of "Doing stupid things for money" I was once bet 2500 Swedish Crowns that I would not shave my hair off then and there ..
Quickest £200 I've ever made ... This mad wild Boris johnson hair grows in about a fortnight ..
