hehe! I am looking for a new project!?!

I am slowly thinking through the huge ammount of tasks that would need to be done to get it to work! hundreds of jobs will need doing like re-building the transmision tunnel as this will be almost lost when 4inches is cut out through the middle!

Anybody that has any ideas then please speak!

that is a good idea! Cutting out the original transmition tunnel before slicing the car and then re-welding it into a cut out in the floor.

How would you hold the two halfs square and true for welding them back together? The way I can see it being done is to build a small frame and bolt it to the inside of the car but I dont think for one moment that this will be enough?

Why not? Sounds ideal to me. 'Swot I've done for replacing half floors before now.

hehe! Im sure i can acomodate an extra morris minor enthusiast!

Last time my friend stayed the nite he ended up staying for a complete week and everyday we worked on the morris! We had the engine/Gbox out rebuilt it, recon GBox fitted, painted and re-fitted! was good fun!

Is the door different in the Mosquito? It looks as if the wing does not pertrude into the door as much as in the standard Series MM?? I realy do need some pics if anyone has any?

I can, but it isn't very pretty...

I can weld well with a Gas Mig welder
I can weld OK with a Gasless Mig welder
I MELT EVERYTHING with my arc welder

I think that undertaking a project like this would be a steep learning curve and an increadibly interesting project with a VERY unique 'priceless' product at the end of it! I am lucky enough to have the space and most of the equipment to do it! but i need to do allot more research before even thinking of commiting myself to such a huge project!

Dont worry! I do not underestimate the scale of this project!

The door mod will be a bit of a pain, the lower hinge might need to be cut in half and welded to the door, as you will remove half of it's mounting when you remove the bulge.

If only you were closer to me, I'm quite handy with a mig (at times ;-) ) and I do love the challenge of a little fun project.... Just need to find some time to do mine now!

right, everyone round andrew's (once he has found a suitable vehicle)

Thinking about mechanics for it, if you got hold of SII with an 803 in it to cut in half, you should be able to use an A30/35 rear axle. The engine will still fit quite happily although I think you will have to alter the top of the chassis legs/firewall supports to get the gear-box in, as chopping 4" out of hear is going to make it very tight. I'm guessing the firewall supports will be your biggest problem with most types of gearbox will foul these. Steering rack will probably be the other hard item.... Everything else should be fine.

Could we not do this at the next national? Bit of entertainment for people? Maybe cut one in half and remove the four inches, and have four bits of box welded underneath, with a slider so that you can have the car without the 4" (halves hard together) then at 1" intervals upto say 6" wider. This would then give a better feel for the reason for the 4".

Just some Ideas.....
