To clarify... 60th anniversary of the launch of the Minor, would be nice to hold it at the Heritage Motor Museum in Gaydon. Like the Series 2 Land Rover Club have done this year.

I have spoken to Coventry Transport Museum this morning and we are pencilled in for Saturday 23rd June 2007. I have an information pack from the museum winging it's way out to me as we speak and I will update you all once I have more details. Apperently I have to approach Coventry City Council as Millennium Square (in front of the museum) is council owned and not museum owned

Any Suggestions for an afternoon run/drive/visit?

So far the list of attendees is:-

Me
Andrew
Jonathon & clan
Cam
Graham
Dennis
Bill
Rob & Josh
Rog
Onne
Lou
Roger (& cake)
Victoria
Alistair

I'm a 'possible' for those dates, but this gives me a bit of a timing clash with the Trabbi Trefen in East Germany.

I hope to make it! How about meeting up for those wheels (possibly axle depending which vehicle)...

Prehaps I should just bring the van :s

In progress Roger, date and location unchanged, time to be announced. I'm just trying to sort parking in Millennium Square out with Coventry City Council, I'm waiting on an email to regarding the public liability insurance the council is insisting on! I'll update you all as soon as I hear anything.

OK an update..... Coventry City Council who own Millennium Square in front of the Transport Museum are insisting on £5m public liability insurance if we want to park on the square itself, I'm going to speak to Derby tomorrow on the advise of a committee member. However this person pointed out that the insurance that the club can provide will only cover fully paid up members so I'm going to have to be strict about the parking. If you have your membership card and it is valid you will be able to park on Millennium Square, if not you will have to park elsewhere... Simple as that really, harsh I know but I don't want to open the club up to the slightest chance of litigation! Sorry about that folks :(

I did look into getting a 1 day policy to cover a special event/rally and you'd be surprised at some of the quotes I received!!! The cheapest was just over £200 and I won't tell you the highest quote as it was well into 4 figures!!!! :o

Have you spoken to Sandy Hamilton - he is the man with the gen on this.

The subject was brought up at the 2005 Pre-AGM Liaison Meeting & the answer given was if a person organised a rally under the MMOC banner then the event was covered by MMOC Public Liability Insurance even if non members attended. The only proviso was that non members did not help organise & marshall etc.
