The mx5 engine is quite long so would require bulkhead mods.
I do know of a Minor being built with a mx5 engine box and also the suspension.

Replacing the coil must have cured the real problem then as it ran on all 3 afterwards

Just FYI, I know of a chap fitting an MX5 to a Minor down here in Oz.
However ... the Minor is fitted with a Mazda Ute chassis!

There's a bloke in my street that's got a Trabi.. ;-)
2 cylinder, but not so different from the Warty as it's 2 stroke. Not much use compared to an MX-5 engine though.
