It might pay to check the wooden floor is centralized and drops in (widthwise) before you fix the floor side to the front panel. In theory this should give you the overall width of the floor.

Les, I was going to weld the rear metal floor panels in square then cut to measure a square (or rather oblong in this case) of plywood, waterproof it somehow before sliding it in under that flap in the top rear panel. Here is a shot of another pickup showing what I'm getting at...[frame][/frame]

moving forward slightly, the cab floor drums when stepped on, I thought this would be helped when I fitted the sills, does it need underside reinforcement?[frame][/frame]

there should be 4 reinforcing strips 2 either side

Thanks Dennis, I'll have to dig out my old picture of the original cab floor see if that helps me some.

Here it is, I'm glad I kept all the old images of the pickup relic on CD, the original project thread is so far down in the bowels of the general discussion section I have a fair old time trying to dig it up. Thanks to the Moderators for this restoration section.
Heres the remains of the first floor, this feels a bit like an exhumation and post mortem, still, get enough of that at work, this is my spare time project. This shows me that there was not only the two reinforcing strips down the side, but there is a trace of one latitudinally positioned under where the seats would be. 2 strips either side as Dennis Mentioned.

yes there was another that went just on top of the chassis towards the outside cill area

1 goes from the chassis out to the cill and the other as shown in your photo of the old floor

This all comes down to getting her out on four wheels, unbolting the cab and front suspension, tilting the cab back to expose the floor, and getting those reinforcing strips welded in place.

I'm loathing getting the whole vehicle out until this rain stops, its been never ending all day all night. The boot, spare wheel well, on my modern was full of water yesterday, I'll have to check the hatchback seals, thats another groan.

have you welded the floor cills and back lower panel if so did you have the doors in place to line everything up

Floor sills are all welded and checked with the doors, they are a good fit with constant shut lines, the rear top panel is just bolted on. I'm going to have to unbolt it again later on to check fit the rear floors. In the meantime ive got the side panels to finish off and the under cab support rails to weld on.

That part is mirrored in the old rear panel, it must have been cut off when the pickup was dismantled. Or the one forming part of the inner panel forms the upper tail light mount/surround.

There is quite a pronounced tilt to the cargo floor running down toward the rear. Good draining quality for rain. The correct valance height also means the floor is supported part way by the chassis.
