ndevans wrote:Kevin, thanks for that. I am going to try turning the prop shaft through 180 degrees first as it's not impossible that it's been reassembled the wrong way round in the past.
AFAIK it doesn't matter which way you bolt them together because the prop is balanced separately to the diff.

In theory yes, but in practise if they both have a small balance error, you can double it or reduce it by re locating the prop.

Personally I'd expect no great improvement as the balance error needs to be big before you notice it. However i'd be happy to eat humble pie if this does make it better ;-)

I've now booked all accomodation (campsites) and booked my ferry :D I found the mail from Bill saying which crossing time!
I didn't get any hassles regarding the one way crossing and I just said 'Morris Minor' rather than 'light commercial vehicle'

Thanks Alex.

Are we all going to meet up on the Saturday evening in a pub somewhere, like we did last year? If so, where, when etc?

cheers,

I'm making progress but still got to do some more welding, put the front suspension back together, replace the brake pipes and handbrake cables, sort out the clutch linkage, and replace the nearside sidelight/indicator.

The problem with the sticking throttle was due to a frayed cable (now replaced). The old radiator turned out to be leaky and partially blocked so I've replaced it with a new one. The engine mountings are OK now and I've fixed the windscreen washers.

Yes I had intended to and have started making enquiries. To help with the organisation, if those that would like to do this will let me know asap and also suggest a time, I will see what I can do.

To start the ball rolling, 7pm on Sat 2nd Aug, somewhere near Penzance would suit us. We are staying in Penzance YH.

I know Alex is staying at the Lizard YH, so maybe we need to be a bit further afield, so we can meet mid-way somewhere? We don't really mind where.......

cheers,
Neil
