Waiting for the ferry between Barra and Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides.

Note that I'm not straying too far from the Minor, due to breaking a handbrake cable earlier in the day and thus a bit wary about parking on the slipway... :o :)

They had a lovely casual mooring technique - drive the ferry up the slipway a bit till the loading ramp jams it in place, then work the ramp up and down a bit to give a 'push off' when leaving!
Image
Just where you want to be parked with a dicky handbrake - on the sloping bit of deck next to the door.... Especially when they dropped the ramp down 50yds before arriving at the slipway and water was washing up towards the Minor. Concerned? Me? :o

Concerned? Me?
You dont appear to be the sort to get concerned over such a small issue Ian, I would be more worried about the bow on the back door handle

It was ribbon that we borrowed off the wedding car. Seemed appropriate for the honeymoon trip. The wing mirrors got the same treatment too. Surprising numbers of coments as we toured the islands... :D

Heres a small one:

The chain ferry on Lake Windermere afew years ago now. Not the most stylish of vessels really.
There's more boats in the background if you look closely though :)

Well it's been difficult to choose from the large number of entrants but this week's prize winning entry is from ianintenbury for his first submission 'waiting for the ferry between Barra & Eriskay'.

Well done Ian. Over to you for the next choice of topic.

Sorry, rules are rules. You've had a week to post it

What is that you're carrying in the rear (aside from Juliet) ? A job lot of nappies?? :o

In fact, perhaps we should ditch the photo topic thread and start a new one with a caption competition

Yes, I did say it was too late to enter. :)

We were carrying a ridiculous amount of stuff in the back. In the picture you can see a couple of pillows, a duvet, and also the reflection of the side of the ferry.

Closing date next Sunday (11th)
Well, it's still Sunday the 11th. There's no closing time, so it should be possible to enter at any time up to midnight; so why has the competition been closed early? I'm not going to make a big thing over something that's a bit of fun, but if "rules is rules"......

Being positive, perhaps a separate thread for each competition rather than having them all in one, run say, on a monthly basis. Any thoughts?

Well I closed the contest at roughly the same time that I opened it. Work commitments mean that I probably won't get a chance to post here next week so if it was kept open to midnight it would probably be next weekend before the winner was announced. This would no doubt lead to further moans / complaints. You can't please everyone :-?

There are no rules as such - that was supposed to be a humerous comment hence the 'smiley'. It was mentioned on here previously that the contest should be changed weekly, I think just to bring some order to a thread that kept going off at a tangent.

I have no views either way as to how long the competition is open for, although a month seems too long. The thread would soon be off the page if no one posted a picture.

Ooh thanks! Was running out of ferry pictures there....:)
Ok then, here goes for the next one!
A Minor with or at, a famous place or landmark.
A very wide brief there so should be plenty of possibilities - more famous or well known the better!

Well I guess most Heartbeat fans would consider this famous..... Steveys is the blue 4 door. A coach party arrived while we were there and wanted to photograph everything, they thought we were part of the attraction!! Theres some seriously hilly countryside around here, good job I didnt go in the lowlight!
Image
