After our conversation I thought I'd tell you what the motor factors you suggested said "We don't do those, why not try the main dealer?" and on pointing out that being a Rover there were no main dealers anymore they really really were stumped.

Fortunatly, I traked down an XPart agent in Hedge End and for £12 I got the hose

I was due to be spending next week in Southampton but work plans have now been changed

Pity, as I would have come to the Sadmog meet to say hello and see what actually goes on there. I have visions of various oily parts being passed over the table in crisp packets to stop the landlord complaining
