The springy clip can be found on many cars in the breakers - Get a handful as you're bound to lose at least one on the way home, then another as you route the cable, a third as you try and fit it and it makes a bid for freedom...
I'm sure someone will stock them somewhere, but when there's still some HiF cars in the breakers it's much easier. I tried cable ties when I converted one of my cars, but it just wasn't as good as the correct clip.

Could you give some examples of HIF-driven cars?

Pre K series Metros (and maybe some of the early carb K series ones, not sure), Maestro 1300s, Montego 1300s, Itals (at a guess, not sure on that one), and quite possibly other Monty and Maestros. I do know that whenever I've needed one a quick trip to the breakers has provided me with one, so they must be quite easy to come by. If you're in no rush I *might* be able to find one, I tend to have as many spares as I can find at the scrappy, although I'm dammed if I know where I might have put them
Failing that I know there's one on my Metro (that's most likely never seeing the road again, hence why I didn't get that other Metro I posted about), but I'd have to work out something that'll just about do for now before taking it off.

British cars aren't that common here nowadays, being in Holland, so if you could, I wouldn't say no!

I've got to try and sort the front suspension on my daily driver this week, but will hopefully make a trip to the breakers if that goes to plan, and maybe even get up to that rotten Metro. Will also trawl through my boxes of spares, see what I come up with.
It's the sort of thing that ought to be dirt cheap to buy new, but I have no idea where you might be able to get them from

Tell a lie, I found someone who does them new!

Probably not worth the postage for just one, might as well get yourself a cable or some gaskets or something at the same time.

Good point, if I can get them from a mini man overhere too!

Hmmm, looking at that picture again I'm not convinced, but that could be the wine goggles confusing me. Best to phone them, after all the HiF is a common custom fitting (I never did understand why they used the HS instead) so they should have the right clips.
Minisport probably have them as well, although I can't find them on the website, and I've generally found Minisport to be slightly better on the phone when asking daft questions, but both are pretty decent overall

Will try the similar minimad people overhere, as the Minor club holland isn't that keen on modifications

Now you guys are confusing me, I managed to fit a HIF38 using both the orignal Minor throttle and choke cables. I made sure I had all the bits from the carb when I took if off the Metro though.

Well, I fitted a HIF44. Maybe the HIF38 works with the original cables? I have not fitted one to a Minor.

Like Cam says, I got my cables (for the HIF44) from birmingham. However, on the choke I now have a nasty plastic pull handle rather than the original pull handle. Can I use the original coz it looks pants? Sorry - not hyjacking just thought it was worth bringing up in case you bought from them

This carb arrangement's not the same as I remember my old Metro being, but then mine was a 1.3 Metro hence HIF44. Although I might be using an MG Metro bracket with the HIF38 as I had bits from that too and, well, it was a while ago now.

Don't see why this should be a problem on the Minor. I put an HiF 44 straight on my Mini using the standard Mini cables - and looking at the Minor I don't expect any problems when I fit one on there! Would have done it today - but 'had' to paint the hall instead !!

Well, the Mini and Minor cables are more than likely different lengths, so maybe there is more 'slack' in the Mini cables as opposed to the Minor ones. I too have fitted a HIF44 to a Mini with no problems...
Bad luck on the hall painting.

The sad thing is - the hall is only the start of it !! My dear wife retires today - and has decided the whole house needs 'freshening'. This was my last ever day of freedom - when I had a day off work and she was at work - and it was made very clear how I had to spend the day !! I would say there was no great slack in the Mini cables - they just fitted ! In fact I probably have more slack in the Minor.

Oh dear god!

Run and hide in the garage!

Well, the Minor's cables are the other side of the carb (HIF vs HS2). I can't remember but maybe the HS4 carbs are the same side as the HIF, so perhaps the Minis fit OK having a longer cable and the Minor not as it's generally short. Maybe you have longer cables fitted to your Minor. Mine were original and did not fit. No way, no how.

Rover Sd1s had HIF 44s in pairs on the 2.3 and 2.6 - I think also on the carburated 3.5s. I think that one of the pair might not have a choke and the other might have a very odd electric auto-choke device which isn't reliable.
Ah the joys of scrapyard treasure hunting. I once got so carried away trying to get a marina/ital caliper off a wreck that I didn't notice they locked up for the day and set the inbred dogs loose.
