Very very annoying, I was sure there'd be a good one there somewhere!
I'll still keep an eye out for that metal conical bit though, while I do one last check tomorrow for a good plate. Although if I were you I wouldn't turn down the offer of a freebie one that's all nice and blasted clean!

I just want less clutter in the workshop!!!
Next trick is to try and find some mug who wants half a dozen totally knackered trunnions/ uprights ;)

I thought the plastic ccovers were fitted to the later vehicles, and when you get your replacement one Juliet make sure the pipe is secure, next time at a rally have a look at how many are missing them and some owners do not even realise it.

Apparently, the CKD export models didn't have the tube - I know not why not...

latest installment: Steve at ESM very kindly gave me a knackered old metal conical section yesterday

Will need cleaning, reshaping and repainting, but 'tis still fab
Also got a lovely blasted base plate from a lovely person through the post this morning - only problem is I had clearly miscommunicated on which pipe was missing from mine, as the same pipe is missing from the one he sent me!!! lol
further updates as conditions warrant
and now - back to the studio

How much of a hurry are you in for the baseplate? I'm hoping my welder will eventually re-appear (lent it out last year...), and I can quickly repair where the pipe is splitting off one of the spares I found if/ when that happens. Still haven't had chance to look at the one on the 2 door (sorry), but will try and get to it Wednesday - It's tucked behind a pile of scrap panels and one of my cars, which makes it fun to get at!
You never know, the 2 door might also have a decent metal conical bit as well - The one I picked up the other day is probably in the same condition as your freebie one at best, and would've probably been worse by the time the post office had played sorting office rugby with it!

None really!

Am hoping to fit one about November time.... but I can of course just re-install the one I have at the moment, no worries, till I get a funkier/smarter/goldplated/diamond-encrusted one.

Cool! Lucky you having a welder machine thingy

Just get the seller to double check/ send photos of where the pipe meets the plate. I found quite a few that look fine till you peer closer and see the pipe is coming away, and that camera angle might be a bit flattering (although it could well be fine)
