Wellll,

I was always told that you could make a noisy engine (or gearbox) nice & quiet by adding some old nylon stockings to the oil.

:D

Apparently it works for long enough so the sucker buying it doesn't notice! :wink:

JB's oil treatment does work. Use it in both cars. Not yet in the MM though

Colin, my mate's brother regularly used sawdust to quieten down the cam on vauxhalls that he's sold in the past... :(

Thanks for reminding me of that one :)

The only thing is, I can still get hold of nylon stockings (cue for shriek - not while I'm wearing them from my other half :D :oops: )

Where do you buy sawdust these days? - the pubs have changed, the butchers don't use it ....

Well, it was quite a few years ago now (10-15?), but I bet aupickup could supply sawdust in lorryloads!!! :lol: I generated a bit too when I made my big gates at the end of my (now paved & concreted) garden! But I used it to cover oil spots! :lol:

p.s. how's the fuel situation down there at the moment? We seem to have missed it in Newcastle :-?
