Analogues:
Electricity......... Water
Battery ............ Bucket
Volts................ Bucket height
Wire ............... Pipe
Resistance ........ Thinness of pipe
Current Amps .....Flow rate
Switch...............Valve
Dirty joint..........Pinched pipe
Load (eg lamp).....Water wheel/turbine
Air or insulation .. Hose rubber
Earth/chassis ......1 Atmos
Short to chassis ... Hole in hose
Sparks .............. Water plume
That said, I did once encounter a leaking electrical cable. I'd instructed my rigger to hacksaw through the bottom of a 1" thick multicore electric cable that had served equipment 400' up a redundant BBC mast. He was instantly sprayed with high pressure water, and accused me of mis-identifying a water pipe as a cable. But we soon realised that the cable's outer insulation had been damaged in its 50 year life, and water had collected between between the conductors. Not many pints (Coulombs), but a a huge head (voltage) of hundreds of feet.
