I just acquired another Gold Seal rocker cover and was surprised at the label on it. I have never seen this MOWOG version before and am convinced it is a rarity.
As regards the paint I called HMG who said they should be able to match from their swatches and it will be heat resistant up to 170 deg. C. That is as far as I have got. Next step will be to visit Collyhurst.

If the sticker is as rare as you think it is, maybe you should take a note of the various measurements should you ever need to get a replacement

You highlighted their Engine Enamel which is good for 550F, but there is a Brake Caliper paint they do that's good to 900F available in the UK...
I've been browsing around the web today looking for gold engine paint. Not I'll need it any time soon but while it's cold out, gathering parts and products seems a good use of time.
Believe it or not, I had the same thought as geoberni before I read his comment on this thread. Not only does the colour look like a closer match but with a better heat resistant rating it might be ideal. It does seem odd to me that a paint manufacturer would sell engine enamel that is
less resistant to heat than the stuff they sell for brake calipers, by quite a big margin too.

By the way, how did the OP get on with the painting job I wonder?

Standard road car calipers can get to region of 130c ,performance/ race cars much higher circa 500c
So ikely that's why their brake caliper paint is higher rated than what you would use to paint the engine block, just as you would use UHT to paint exhaust manifold.

In case anyone is interested and doesn't already know, the VHT SP404 gold paint is not allowed to be sold in the EU any longer. No doubt just another pointless, arbitrary and bureaucratic rule made up by faceless suits in Brussels.

Ebay doesn't care about EU rule then

Sorry didn't notice rocco was in Germany.
First advantage I've discovered since leaving EU

That and the link was to SP736, not SP404 which is available on eBay but from the USA.

Good find! They offer it for sale on a Dutch website would be more accurate because they state that they import it from the US. Sorry to sound pedantic.
The website you found is for a company founded in Kuwait and my suspicion is that they are not aware of the EU restriction.
Oddly enough, it was two separate Dutch suppliers that told me it cannot be sold in the EU. It appears to be banned because of it's high toluene content and from what I've read on a couple of forums, that change was made only last year. Businesses
might still be able to get it though.

I sent Craftmaster paint a few sample engine parts and they made a couple of aerosol cans for me. I am pleased with the colour match. Craftmaster should have it on their system now.

Thanks for the tip. Just looked them up but they have no gold engine enamel listed on the website at the moment.

I send them an email and see what occurs.
