Furthermore, I managed all this having had a splitting headache most of the day, which has only just subsided to bearable proportions. Sometimes you have to be lucky!

Great result, as it wasnt really tight it makes you wonder how they managed to snap the end off.

Well, it could have been me, I have a vague memory of having difficulty getting the pipe off before, but I don't remember snapping the head off. Anyway, I guess temperature differences could make it more difficult-it's cold here at the moment, so the brass nut may not be as tight in the tank as on a warm day.
