Must say they don’t look like new cylinders. However if you’ve got a replacement coming, all should be ok.

Like Les, I find it very difficult to believe that the rear cylinder you've pictured is just a month old.

Probably not a casting fault, the cylinders are a tight fit so may have been broken when installed.

New cylinder arrived today, got it fitted, adjusted the brakes and sorted out the handbrake, tomorrow I'll see whether it'll hold the car on a steep hill. I'm a bit more optimistic this time! Went for a short test ride and everything felt normal, I fitted a new exhaust trim and rear door seals yesterday and that seems to have got rid of the fumey smell, hooray!

I haven't been able to do anything yet- but now that it has working brakes and the suspension is attached to the car, I'll measure up and drill a couple of new holes on the bracket so that I can mount it the right way round.
