I used to frequent the actual Eccles cake shop in Eccles when I use to go to the chandlery directly opposite to get parts for my sailing boat.
Both cakes are nice in their way but I prefer Chorley cakes as the pastry does not go everywhere as the Eccles pastry does it being flakey pastry.
