The MG Midget gearbox is stronger than the 948cc/1098cc Minor gearbox but the Ford gearbox will suit your needs better and more importantly last longer.

On the same theme, is the Midget/sprite gearbox any stronger than the Minor box?
That looks like a Mk1/Mk Escort 1100/1300 box, the Cortina one has a separate bellhousing. The Cortina box is stronger. The Escort box may be OK, but if you're going to the trouble of swapping boxes, you'd be better off going for the better one in the first place.
