Don't worry I'm not easily offended (I need a thick skin for my job.. lol)
The felt bush was fitted before I got the car so I don't know what they used, however either they they didn't use the right stuff or not enough of it.
As I didn't have the correct socket I couldn't get the collumn shaft out of the support sleeve so I used engine oil applied at the end of the felt bush as a temporary measure (It was driving me nuts, and passengers would be rather nervous about the safety of the car!)
When I get the socket I am going to use EP80/90 as the manual said 'heavy oil'.
