I think you would get the same reply too busy !! and the club has not got a historian .The records should of been kept from day one it would make sense .Chris is doing a thankless task and goes out of his way to help people

Yes, that's true. But think of how much time it would take for the small team at Derby to deal with such requests... I imagine that they mostly deal with the usual administration day in day out. All historical research has to come from enthusiasts I would have thought.

I used to belong to one of the clubs for the BMC B and C series Farina ranges. There were registrars for each of the B Series Farina variants, a registrar for the C series variants, a registrar for the half-ton commercial variants and overseas-built oddities, and one for the pre-Farina variants which the club also catered for. All were unpaid. Between them they managed to build up pretty good records of suviving cars and factory production details, although inevitably the latter were far from complete. BMC production records are always an issue. I suspect that, especially during the BLMC years, maintaining archives wasn't a particularly high priority, compared with trying to control a wayward balance sheet

Well, we HAVE received a contribution from the LCV Register at last, albeit in the form of an "Admin warning"!
FAR easier to post an answer to the 700 mystery, which would be both a much appreciated by me and an excellent show of Club promotion, but hay ho...
Personally, sounds like deliberately supressing information for the advancement of knowledge & benefit of fellow enthusiasts to me(?).
I'm the stupid one for thinking common sense prevails in these Enthusiast's Club's, collecting numbers and doing NOTHING with them is the answer apparently, just wait for a time machine to be invented to transport us to AddPk in 1972.
There you go, that's life!!

If you get your time machine, I'd like to go back with you............maybe drop you off in 1972 and I'll go on further back

I'd be happy with 28/5/1957. I want to see my car being built.

APJM originally but now 948 Goldseal since 1979. Started on 28/5, completed on 31/5 and registered on 6.6.1957 in Cambridge, What is yours and where did it start its life?

4dr 480xxx with 41xxx APJM.
Not sure when/why, but red sump up to 5/57, or whenever the 9M engine came in..
Started life in Reading "NMO", owned by a female MoD Major. Fitted with some half-baked towbar, the CAR that is....although you never know!
Where have I mentiined "Laxatives" in this thread?

Strange that export & CKD APJM's - also late S11's on the latter - are given either HC or LC designations...and Heritage Certificates make no reference to APJM, just 9M.

It is 9M on the engine plate.

Weirdly enough no, can have the APJM on the engine & ID plate yet Gaydon record "9M".
Same as Heritage Certificates quoting "M-ASx" ("-" only used on post '70 LCVs). In reality, Cowley was "M/ASx" & Abingdon Traveller's "MAW×/".
Oooops...being a bit "Anoraky" AGAIN!!

Something you'll notice on yours is the square topped wiper motor plinth/bkt.
After 3/59ish had the front fold & hole (for the paper air filter thingy)

That's true! I like the details which distinguish different years and models

Don't mention the 2dr/Tourer LRBM business!!
Shame no-one else seems to have investigated it, I'm up to my ears in LCV stuff, surely there are other historian's about to solve this riddle?

The next show I go to I'll bring an Endoscope and see what the design is inside the bodies to see if there is any obvious differences. Our LBM is leaded over but there might be something lurking underneath.

Worth a punt.
Find it odd that Tourers AFTER the intro of the LBM all have LOWER "progressive" NMP numbers, whereas every other varient is HIGHER.
A case of vehicle id BMT 23456 with bodyshell T 22456....1000 less....explain THAT and win a goldfish!!
