I never say it is the condenser without good reason.. I always try to be helpful, not a hindrance by suggesting any particular part must be at fault without good reason.
ALL I am saying is diagnose before jumping to inept conclusions. I say again, if the spark is a hard blue clour and easily jumps a gap, to earth, of 7 or 8mm, the condenser will not be the fault if the engine will not start. Can't put if any simpler than that. It is a 'no brainer'. A weak yellow spark that will not jump that distance and it may be the condenser, but not necessarily so. Got it yet?
Do try to keep an open mind. I was relating this type of thread to a young fellow who prepared landrovers for safari type duties. He laughed at the lack of diagnosis and his comments were unprintable - on a polite forum such as this. But you get my drift, I am sure.

This is getting rather boring now. Now and then we get newcomers on this forum with a big ego, you are not the first and won't be the last, eventually they disappear and go elsewhere. I can't understand why you take pleasure in belittling us with comments like 'get it yet' and other demeaning phrases. Lots of folk here also have years of experience but don't mention it. Yes I'm sure we all get it, so let's change the record. I hope you and your young fellow continue to enjoy a laugh at our expense, and wallow in mutual admiration.

they didn't give it some thought, we'd be hearing stories of folk replacing the exhaust system if the car was loosing oil pressure!
No big ego (just common sense) and sorry if it has dented yours.
A good example of simple diagnosis being required is the "going mental" thread on the electrical section. Turns out to be fuel supply, but only after a huge outlay on ignition parts - including the condenser. All could have been avoided by simply checking for a spark at break down. I rest my case.

The problem is not what you say, it's the way you say it. I have said all I want to say to you on this matter. You get my drift, I'm sure.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their input. Despite a little friction most seemed to think the condenser would be the culprit. Went to my local vintage vehicle club and they thought the same and their resident Morris expert even gave me an old, new condenser. Fitted it this morning and immediately, Mabel, for so is she called, burst into life. So problem solved and thanks again guys.

Glad you sorted it. Despite the snide comments from some on here, I thought it could be the condenser, but simply indicated you need a clue before deciding - ie I would never say it would be the condenser without a corroborative clue. Taking clueless advice is a recipe for spending money unnecessarily. Seemed like there may be quite a few on here who like to jump to conclusions without any corroborating evidence. Good job your GP doesnt operate like that, for sure, or many more illness diagnoses would be completely wrong!
An initial check of the spark quality (a) at the plug leads, should have directed you to the ignition system and (b) at the king lead, directed thoughts to the points, condenser, or coil troubles. Points burning or sparking at the points indicates point or condenser, not coil. Testing the condenser is then a simple task for anyone with a multimeter. Changing a faulty condenser usually benefits from a new set of points at the same time, these days, because the condenser will soon cause burning at the points due to excessive arcing (the condenser avoids that by preventing arcing as the points move apart).
Had you reported back on the symptoms, diagnosis would have been so much easier, btw.
