I inserted a "collar bone" made from a thick paper clip with rounded ends to keep the loose end from flapping.
On the inside I added slit 1/2" pipe lagging from the DIY secured with 3 Velcro strips sewn into the hood seam. This prevents the hood from flapping.

Here's a better photo of the Velcro hood flap inhibitor!
The same pipe lagging was used to refurbish the crash pad on the parcel shelf.

Thanks for that information I shall try using the paper clip suggestion . I already have used the pipe lagging on the old frame and hood.
I think my main concern now is stretching the hood sufficiently when fitting it. I have a new vinyl hood and frame on the way.
