Might have to be the angle grinder and Dremel version until I've saved up for the lathe......

My lathe is too small to swing something that size, hence the involvement of a company oop north. Their idea also involves machining the hole so that Metalastic bushes can go in instead of the normal Morris rubber ones so that might help avoid the problems of finding J4 Van bushes.

Yeah, if I had done so then I might not have had to undergo the surgery and would've been in line for a massive pay-out. Oh well.



One option being put forwards is to thicken the area round the torsion bar eye to allow different sized ODs on the bushes. I know Declan and others had looked into getting rubbers made for the standard sizes but am now looking for bushes that would be suitable for this new option. Suggestions gratefully received. Marina??? Maybe there are companies out there who make standard sized Metalastic/Poly bushes? If so, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Here are the longer Minor eye bolts as originally produced by Minor Mania.[frame][/frame]
The horseshoe washers are designed to allow camber adjustment between 2 - 4 degrees without having to remove the eye bolt. Whilst good for a track car which does not go in the dirt - ideally a solid washer should be used.
Marina eye bolt bushes are totally different and the eye bolt fits into the under side of the chassis rail.
Below is a photo of the Marina eye bolt bush and a Minor Metalastic eye bolt conversion (un-shortened) bush. As you can see there is a considerable difference.

Ah, I'd been on the Robush site this morning. No joy.

On the up-side, I found 2 Lowlight quater-light rubbers.

Negative camber Eyebolts might well be finalised this week. Initial batch will be 20 and then an option to produce 100. En8.

Any last-minute suggestions for changes?

The Australian Morris Major Elite (different to Majors elsewhere) has similar eyebolts to Minors except with bigger eyebolt bushes and pins. Poly bushes are available for them.

Made mine from 52 mm. dia 4140 (similar to Assab 709). A lot of machining. Left eye dia the same to accept poly bushes.

Bob. That's equivalent to EN19A in UK speak. A bit more expensive than EN8 (1040 or 1042). Did you chose it intentionally for the extra strength or was it something you had handy? Some of the other ones on here have been EN1 (1113 or 1213).

I don't have an Alta head but I have a Mazengarb ohv conversion which I would like to reproduce somehow. It is a cast steel head .Any suggestions of someone capable ? I do have an early Lolite with the copper lower pipe , will check in shed to see if I have a steel one as a spare.

I have someone here in the UK who is up to the task but I'm guessing you are about 10,000 miles away?

I don't think you list is long enough , so here is another suggestion:

We know that the currently available pressure switches for the brake lights seem to be poor quality.

I think it was Fingolin who put a mechanical switch on the brake pedal to work around this problem. With all respect to him for his resourcefulness, I think it could be done much better for easy adjustment and long term reliability.

So, how about a mount for the switch and an attachment for the pedal arm to actuate it?

Rob - sorry I missed your earlier post re material. I have a small stock of Assab 709 and Vew V155 chrome molly (now Bohler) neither of which were big enough. However I located an engineering firm close by and the boss is willing to sell me small amounts of 4140 which is a blessing compared to getting it huge amounts from suppliers.

Well, the machinist can make these in materials ranging from EN8 up to EN24T. EN24T will add about 85% to the price of the EN8 but it all depends on how many people will want these and how much the product liability will cost me.
EN8 will cost about £35 each. How many people would be interested so far if I decided to go ahead?
