Surely it pivots round the pin head - then clamps with the two screws - well - all mine did anyway!

The tensioner pad support bracket (Pt No: 12G2628)( I have two complete assys in front of me as I write) pivots/arcs around the bottom hole set screw.
See:-

I have never come across a support bracket as you describe.

The tensioner pad pivots on the pin. The actual tension is adjusted via the elongated hole which implies that if it is to be installed with the pin head towards the rear (no objection to this method at all!) the hole in the engine front plate must be elongated to prevent the pin fouling the engine front plate as it moves through the tensioning arc determined by the elongated hole on the bracket as the lower hole on the tensioner bracket is fixed.

Ah yes -of course it is - it's the tensioner that pivots, not the whole bracket. Thanks for clearing it up Declan!
