So do, would you refurb the Hardi ones at all?

I have done Hardi pumps before, but as I said earlier, I don't think you can get the points for them. I had about half a dozen that had been chopped in - in exchange for recon SU pumps. I was going to bin them but when I dismantled a few I found that they were mostly restorable. I think about 50% of them had a bit of life left in the points and were re-usable. If you are stuck, you could send me your old one and Ill see if I can squeeze a bit more life out of it for you. PM if you are interested.

Intersting. I recently bought one for my Wolseley Six. Admittedly I didn't research it extensively, but from the little research I did do, I didn't find any reports on line of them failing. Time will tell in my case.

I have a Hardi pump on my car since 2007 and 16,000 miles on there are no issues with it.
I did refurbish the old SU as a spare.

Well after much help and advice from folks on here I decided to buy a brand spanking new SU pump late Monday evening online and hey presto it was delivered to me on Wednesday morning and by 09.30 today,[ Thursday]. In less than 10 minutes it was on and my tourer and i was tootling around the town again.

Thanks again to all concerned for the info , help and advice. Now what do I do with a dodgy Hardi pump???

Either fix it - or bin it.... Your SU should be fine for 40 years....

40 years, that's reassuring and good to know, I might take a look at the Hardi and fiddle with it now I know I got a good un under the bonnet.

And then what - refit it ?? No use carrying around a spare pump that you are not SURE about!

Donate it to 'moggalot' - he may be able to fix it for the MMOC spares dept...

I'm up for that, don't bin it - in my experience, it is probably salvageable.
