Thanks, missed the first link! Tempted by second. Are they difficult to fit?

Remove chrome head lamp rings, undo three screws on the retaining ring (these can get a bit rusty) bit don't touch the adjusters, unhook the spring that holds the fitting to the bowl and pull the connector out the back of the old sealed beam units. Then fit the new units :)

I've just changed both the headlights. It was ridiculously easy to do! Obviously I won't know until tonight how their performance compares but they're working fine. They're slightly loose but I don't know if that matters. The sealed beams were really tight and couldn't be wobbled at all but these have a small amount of play in them.

The only problem is that I foolishly undid the adjuster screws on one side so I've now got to realign it :-? Any tips?

The springs maybe a bit slack due to the new light bowls being deeper, you might be able to bend the tab slightly to get more tension. To set the beams point yourself at a wall or gate about three metres away, the beams should hit the wall slightly lower than the height of the lights and slightly to the left.

I didn't put new light bowls in, I just swapped the sealed beam units for the halogen replacements. Should I have changed the bowls? :-?

No the old ones are fine, but there should be a spring from a tab in the bowl to a tab on the back of the light unit, to keep it from wobbling around.

There's a spring from the outer bowl connecting to a tab on the back of the inner bowl but the halogen unit is wobbling about in the inner bowl where there's no retaining spring.

the inner chrome ring should hold the halogen in the outer holder and then the rear spring from the bowl to the outer holder should hold it all in place to stop it wobbling

DOHHHHH sorry yes, do the original sealed beams have raised bits pressed into them to seat against the bowl? If they are missing on the new units some little backing pieces may be needed.

They might need raising a bit more, they are the contact point so a little persuasion with a thin blade screwdriver might be required.
