It's just an old H2 carb - 1 1/4" choke size.

Well, after the input from you folks, and talking to the people at Burlen, I've decided to bite the bullet and order a complete new float chamber lid assembly and the overflow pipe, which they pointed out was missing. Probably better that way in the long run, rather than try to repair the cracks.

It is either an SU H1 1 1/8" or an H2 1 1/4" depending on what engine it was originally fitted to

The air cleaner assy (Pt No: 17H495)(MOSS)) and the carb down feed pipe (Pt No: ACA8445)(MOSS)) in the pictures above are the type fitted to the 948cc Minor so there is a very high probability that the carb in the picture above is a H2.
Taken from the MOSS parts list there were three H2 carbs fitted to the 948cc Minor

Carb H2 Pt No: AUC833 from No: 9M/U/10.

Carb H2 Pt No: AUC852 from 476764.

Carb H2 Pt No: AUC924 from 9M/U/H/165938.

From the Burlen web site Carb H2 Pt No: AUC888 1958 - 1959 with paper filter.

There should be a tag attached to the carb which will state/confirm the type/number of the carb fitted.
