Never mind superior - just get an SU NON electronic pump - not any other cowboy make.

I've now fitted the 'upgrade' pump from Bull Motif. It's from a New Zealand firm called Ecco. It's a direct replacement and very quiet. The car is running fine.
I know that not everyone will agree with my choice - but my experience with the SU pump has been very variable. My first minor (bought when it was 15 years old) had a failed pump. My current minor (owned 13 years) has had two. So an alternative, complete with 2 year guarantee, seems worth a punt.
