Well not really, my main question is " will I have any rear suspension now?" !!

So what butchery was found on the other spring ? Once again had only been poly bushed at the back and again old rubber bushed at the front, the bonus botch being the front leaf spring pin had been welded to the securing plate !!.
Managed to get the 2 bolts undone eventually to remove the pin and plate as one so as to be able to remove the spring.
so what was to be a days job has taken most of the weekend !
Nevermind, as at least if these springs are duff in a few years it should be easy to strip again as all fittings are new.

Slap some grease or copper slip in n all the threads. Remember to only tighten the everything when the weight is on the suspension.

I used car ramps under the body with pit sleepers to spread the load between the rear floorpan just next to the spring mount and the mid crossmember.
on a plus note with the new springs on and Boris sitting high at the back I'll save fuel as he's going downhill all the time now !!!!

Are there any tightening torque setting for the rear suspension as i've had a quick look through the workshop manual and can't seem to find any

Just commonsense with normal hand spanners....

Forgot to post back here but all done and sorted and we have suspension !!!!
I've now got clearance between the shackle spring eye and chassis and all appears ok.
A bit of squeaking here n there mind you even though white grease was used but that's a Minor issue !

I thought this would be back suspension sorted, oh how wrong can one be. Car is now sat 1/2" higher on drivers side at the rear. 2" clearance on passenger side between bump stop and chassis and 2 1/2" clearance on drivers side on level ground. Front supported equally on chassis with stands with both front wheels hanging rear bump stop clearance is a little less but still with just on 1/2" difference. Not going to be happy if the replacement springs are the problem.
Going to try turning one round if no different I'll swap them over. After that I'll know if the springs aren't matched.

If the car is driven with mostly the driver only having the car slightly higher on the drivers side is a bonus as the car will drive
level when the driver is in the driving seat. I personally would do nothing until you have driven the car for a good few miles as it will settle down. Until you have the car on all four wheels on level ground and the suspension settled the measurements you have taken are really meaningless.

Exactly, do nothing - it will be level with driver. 1/2" is nothing to worry about - and may be caused by slightly misplaced front spring mount if they have been replaced in the past. It does sound as though it is sitting 'high' both sides unless the bump stops have previously been cut down? Expect it all to settle after a few miles running.

Ok i'll leave it for a while to settle first, they've only been on a couple of weeks at the mo so we'll see.
