Buy a pot of grease from any decent motor factors or Halfords, etc.
They have a plastic disc with a centre hole inside; you unscrew the end of the grease gun, pull the spring tensioner back and press the canister tube down on the plastic disc. As you do so, it forces the grease up inside the cansister.

The last tub of grease I got from Halfords had the disc, makes it a lot easier to fill the gun still nice and messy though

Most tubs of grease can be opened at the time of purchase to ensure it has the plastic disc.

Yes, it's worth doing. I once got caught out, and got lumbered with a pot of grease that didn't have the disc.

Minor grease gun.
As no one on here has made a move purchase the MINOR grease gun on 'e' bay I have purchased it for myself.
It would be too much of a 'Minor' catastrophe to

not buy it and it would be unfortunate to let it fall into the hands of a non Minor owner

.
Now where is that tub of Castrol LM grease which has now been superseded by Castrol Multipurpose Grease,
product code:- 4 008177 072277. 500g tub with a clear (so it may look as if it is not fitted) internal sealing/loading washer.
When you have got out all you can remove the washer and you will find that there is plenty of grease underneath just right for smearing on.
Happy greasing to one and all

.
Phil

Oh dear!
As I only bought the Minor grease gun to keep it in the Minor community and as you seem keen on owning it you can have it for what I paid for it and the postage which is £11.49.
It has not arrived yet but when it does and is ok I can let you know.
If you want to collect I am not far from Eastleigh.

If you want it, it will be here and here is just south of Stockbridge.
Not many Japanese cars/vehicles have grease nipples - all sealed for life these days.
