All I can suggest is to follow the advise given here

and give SKF a ring. There's a link to their site on one of BMC's posts.

I find it very very frustrating, that I have to rely on what he tells me, I just wish I knew/ could do more.

Suggest you get a copy of the BMC workshop manual, lots of info in there.

Yes, I think I've read this thread, but will go back and re-read good idea about giving them a ring. Will do so Monday morning.

You won't believe it, but I do have it and a couple of other books, too. I just don't really talk "mechanic" and around here they just don't take you seriously anyway. It's all a bit 18th/19th century around here.

They are the ones in the know and I'm just a dumb blonde and foreign, too, so what do I know.

However, due to my limited knowledge, I was able to tell another garage that I didn't need a new dynamo, but just a set of new brushes, but had to pretend the supplier suggested it.

They also wouldn't believe me, when I kept saying something was wrong with the gearbox, turns out there was.....super frustrating.

To tell you that the brakes would improve when the fluid is 'older' is so ridiculous.... for your own safety - find another garage ! Is there no one from this forum in that area - who could go and have a look at the car, and/or suggest a decent garage ? Pity help the owners of the 'other two' Minors... And why did the banjo (which is part of a rear brake cylinder assembly) need fixing anyway... HE must have damaged it - it can't be damaged in service.....

Feel so bad about it, as I've never had any problems with them so far. Ok they are not specialists, but love the car, "this is a real car!"

BUT they are not into welding or maintaining

Anyway, they've exchanged brakes and cylinders before and everything was fine. Will also let them do the wheel bearings, once I've got the right ones.

I know I'll have to pay extra for this, but I just don't feel my car is "safe" with Mr Banjo Repairer (he claims the old garage broke it). Maybe next time the worbble blaster or the quazor valve will fall off, while he's trying to bleed the brakes for the gazillionth time...

Brakes need pumping once every time I get into the car...
